Mindfulness & Yoga
Yoga is simply body postures and breathing, focusing, and relaxing.
Mindfulness is observing the present moment with kindness and curiosity.
Yoga and mindfulness are two interrelated practices. A complete yoga practice includes mindfulness. To practice mindfulness is to practice “yoga for the mind,” which exercises and develops our “mind-muscles” to improve focus, awareness, and relaxation. Working with these together increases our ability to be aware of what is going on in our present moment and handle it more efficiently.
Allowing children to be aware of the present moment, outside of electronics, social media, school, stresses, anxieties, and other rigors that come with the various stages of adolescence, allows for greater self-awareness, increased listening skills, improved memory, and increased compassion for self and others
